Capcom plots hiring spree of 1,000 devs by 2022 | Game - Develop

Publisher to expand its mobile and online gaming operations

Resident Evil developer and publisher Capcom is looking to hire 1,000 developers over the next ten years, the company has claimed.

In a Q&A session after releasing its latest financial results, the firm stated it would continue to develop for home consoles, whilst also expanding its mobile and online gaming operations.

Capcom, which currently houses around 1,500 developers, also said that it wanted to increase the number of employees at the company to create a larger percentage of its games internally.

?Regarding our priorities, we will continue to allocate people to content development in the Home Video Game sector while recruiting and training more people to create games in our mobile contents and PC online game sectors,? read a statement from the publisher.

?Our goal is to increase the number of developers by 1,000 over the next ten years. We want to further improve the quality of our games by maintaining an internal game development team.?

It added: ?We believe that there will be no significant change in total development expenditures mainly because we will be shifting outsourced operations to our own workforce."

Capcom?s latest title, Resident Evil 6, was released on October 2nd, and garnered an average review score on Metacritic of 67.
