Viva Las Vegas

[unable to retrieve full-text content]Xavier was leaning against a brick wall painted black. His head ached with every pulse of the raging music that was inside of the club. Though the walls of the building were built to be as sound-proof as they could afford, they didn't seem to take into consideration those with better hearing than others. He closed his eyes against a gentle desert breeze, relishing the feeling on his skin. Not that there was much to feel, donning a long-sleeved black button-up shirt and pants. Even as the night grew darker, he remembered thinking that he should have worn something lighter.Xavier reached into his pocket, pulling out a small plastic sandwich bag with multiple small white pills inside. He poured six of them into his hand. Two-hundred milligrams each. He looked towards the sky as he swallowed two at a time, and wished his body didn't need so many tablets of ibuprofin just to relieve a headache. He tried to tune out the throbbing beat of the music inside, but didn't have much luck.A smooth voice came from Xavier's right, and he didn't have to look to know who it was. "Waitin' on your girl again?" He turned to look at Hudson, but didn't move from his spot against the wall. He was a stocky white man, a lot of bulk but not much muscle. In his young age he was already balding. He was wearing a wire on his ear and a tag with his name on the front of his jacket, an indication that he was a bouncer for the club. He was also a decent friend to Xavier; another werewolf, so they had a few things in common. Xavier almost felt sorry for him, having to wear a suit in this heat. "I'm early, really. She'll be here soon."Hudson nodded, then looked to the ground, then away from Xavier. His voice grew more serious as he said, "Keep a close watch on her... You know there's some fishy things going on lately. You don't live in a cave."Xavier flashed a short smile. "I'm not worried about it. If we run into trouble, I'll take care of it." From across the street of the club, he watched a couple of humans stumble their way from the bar towards them. They didn't bother to check the street for cars, which caused an expensive looking Corvette to slam on its brakes to avoid a messy collision. He could smell the alcohol on their breath as they got past Hudson, who was beginning to look like he hated his job. Xavier heard more footsteps and looked to his left. He saw a female figure coming his way down the sidewalk. He could recognize her from a mile away, though she wasn't anywhere near that far. He leaned up from the wall, standing straight, waiting for her to approach.
