Artist Frederic Toone Bacon to Come to?Kutztown

by Jessica Reppert

Join us for a show and a reception:

?The Amazing Art of Frederic Toone Bacon?

  • Date: Thursday, February 23, 2012
  • Time: 5:00pm-6:30pm
  • Place: Rohrbach Library 100B + 2nd Floor Gallery
  • The show will include six acrylic paintings and three woodblock prints.

This is a chance for everyone to learn from an educator with multicultural awareness and a wonderful background and experience. Mr. Bacon, now 84, was the director of art education in the School District of Philadelphia for nearly 40 years! Students, faculty, staff, and the community are welcome.

The show is a joint venture between ACOR, founded by Mr. Bacon himself, and the Voices and Choices Center at Kutztown University, run by Bruce Jensen.

ACOR?s mission statement, as found on their website, states:

?Our mission is ?Education for the Arts.? The main focus is to inspire and encourage the African-American artist with the visual arts: poetry, writing, theater, entertainment, and music to pursue this type of profession or talent. We aid them so that they can become more professional in their field. Each month, we feature a different African-American artist. We show the art, promote it, and sell it.?
