With regard to the unfolding circumstance involving LA Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Gold's transition over to the LA Times, LA Observed reports that Gold will write for the paper's food section, inclusive of restaurant reviews. However, it is probable that current Times critic S. Irene Virbila will continue on in her current role. Gold may or may not maintain his Counter Intelligence name which he brought from the Times to LA Weekly, however he supposedly has also been asked to "contribute front page stories on other cultural topics."

In additional media news, LA Weekly food writer Elina Shatkin has accepted a job as senior editor at Los Angeles magazine. Therefore, the Weekly is currently looking to hire a fulltime food critic and blogger.
