Slideshow: Golf courses teeing it up

Erin Hills Golf Course, Hartford (Established 2006; Yardage: 7,820 - from back tee)

Anyone who golfs knows it?s a love-hate relationship that you can?t always take too seriously. As comedian and avid golfer Bob Hope used to say about his game, ?I?ll shoot my age if I have to live to be 105.?

But serious or not, the golf season is trickling into southeast Wisconsin and both golf course operators and golfers are itching to see the flag sticks flapping in the wind. Fortunately for Milwaukee-area golfers, southeast Wisconsin is home to many fine courses, offering picturesque fairways, getaways or afternoon hideaways that can take the sting out of a strenuous work week.

In its March 30 issue, The Business Journal published its annual list of highest slope-rated area golf courses. This year, we thought it?d be fun to put together a slideshow featuring photos from some of the top courses on that list.

Included are challenging courses such as Erin Hills in Hartford, The Bog in Saukville and Geneva National in Lake Geneva.

We know some golfers already have taken advantage of our recent early, warm spring days, but for those who haven?t, perhaps these photos will not only offer a good view of what it?s like to play these courses, but maybe also bring you that much closer to feeling the sun on your face and a soft putting green beneath your feet.

(Note: The majority of photos were provided by golf course representatives.)

Todd Bragstad is managing editor of The Business Journal and also oversees special sections.
