There was fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
National Capital Delhi too experienced incessant rain throughout the night.
In Kashmir Valley, the minimum temperatures in most parts across the plains advanced above the freezing point and the famous ski resort of Gulmarg received fresh snowfall.
Gulmarg received a snowfall of six inches and recorded a minimum temperature of -7 degree Celsius on Thursday night, while Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of -1.4 degree Celsius.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 3.1 degree Celsius, up from the Thursday night?s 2.7 degree Celsius.
The gateway town of Qazigund recorded minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius, while the minimum in Kokernag settled at 0.1 degree Celsius.
Kupwara recorded a low of 1.5 degree Celsius. Leh and Kargil towns in the cold desert region of Ladakh shivered at -6.2 degree Celsius and -10.2 degree Celsius respectively, slightly above the Thursday night?s temperature.
Rains, hail in Rajasthan
On the other hand light rains were received in parts of Rajasthan for the second consecutive day with Barmer receiving 25 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours.
Five districts of Rajasthan have borne the major brunt of hailstorm.
These districts include, Bikaner, Baran, Jhalawar, Nagaur and Rajsamand.
According to the MeT Department Jaipur received a rainfall of around 3.6 mm while other places received rains around 5 mm.
The night temperature in the capital city remained around 12.4 degrees Celsius.
Banswara and Phalodi recorded a low of 19.6 and 13 degrees Celsius, while temperature in Jodhpur and Pilani were recorded at 9 and 8.3 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Sikar recorded the lowest temperature of 8 degrees Celsius. Night temperature in the state remained around normal.
